This program was created in response to widespread requests for a supportive detoxification program or liver cleanse. Those who have visited my office or read my blogs are aware that I do not endorse pre-packaged liver cleanses, as they often lead to adverse side effects and contain laxatives and herbs that may not be suitable for everyone.
"The ability to detoxify is a major determinant of a person’s health. Bodily cells take in nutrients to do their jobs, and eliminate wastes. If waste by-products are not eliminated they accumulate and prevent cells from receiving needed nourishment.
We are all exposed to a number of pollutants daily. Refined sugars, refined flour, tobacco smoke, soft drinks, drugs, artificial colours and flavourings, airborne pollutants, cleaning materials, pesticides, herbicides and other toxic chemicals all contribute to the overload of toxins the body must eliminate. Yes the body is designed to detoxify daily, but the high amount of toxins the average person is exposed often outweighs the body’s ability to detoxify them in a single night. Poor sleep, increased stress, poor nourishment and illness all impede the body’s ability to complete all the detoxification necessary. This is why an annual or semi annual cleanse is often a good idea. During a cleanse we allow the body to catch up on “cleaning house” and clearing out accumulated toxins."
