Healing in the Kitchen Opportunity

One of the questions I get asked about most often is how I make some of my herbal preparations, skincare and teas. I’ve been doing this for years and I love doing it so much that I completed my diploma as a Herbalist in 2021. Now I want to share this information with you in my Healing in the Kitchen group!

This group will start in May and run through October or November with lots of short videos, some informative posts, lots of pictures and resources as we go through my processes for growing, harvesting, foraging, identifying various herbs, weeds and other plants to use for your home natural health products.

I will walk you through the process of preserving through drying, making emulsions, tinctures, teas, skin balms, bath products and other items through videos and photos in every stage of the process.

I will share my favourite resources for supplies, books and online resources so that you will confident in building your own natural health supplies.

I will show you how to make a Materia Medica (a record of each plant’s medicinal uses, properties and how to use it) and share a few pages of my personal one.

I will offer live Q&A sessions throughout the 6 months.

We will focus on plants native to central Saskatchewan, ones that are easy to grow, easy to use and readily available. We will discuss common and unusual uses for the plants including:

  • teas

  • tinctures

  • oil infusions

  • salves

  • inhalations

  • compresses

  • food

I will be sharing some of my favourite recipes and methods for making natural healthcare products. These will be detailed step by step so that you feel confident to replicate them yourself.

We will discuss safety, precautions and responsible foraging. What plants are safe to forage in public places, which ones you should harvest only in certain conditions and which ones you should never forage in public places.

We will discuss safe practices, how to use your homemade products safely, the shelf life of common preparations, what to look for if things go wrong, what to do about it and when not to use them.

By the end of this group session, you should feel comfortable enough to make your medicinal herbal teas, tinctures, salves and other skin care products for your personal use.

I have created a members area section of my website to post all of the videos and information, especially for those who are not on Facebook and to keep all the information current. This page and the Facebook group (for paid members only) will be active only until the end of the year. You can join anytime during this time, but to get the most out of it, to be able to ask questions and interact, I do recommend signing up early. Your investment for these 6 months of interactive learning is $250.

I will be posting previews and more information on my Facebook page and Instagram, so please follow if you’d like more information.
